Some small changes to iThenticate interface

Hi all,

For those of you using the Similarity Check service, we just wanted to let you know that there are a couple of small changes that will be happening within the iThenticate interface on 4th May.

Both of these changes will only affect the Text-only view of your Similarity report in iThenticate (see below for example screenshot of Text-only view).

  1. The Largest Matches mode will no longer be available in the Text-only report.

  2. Also in the Text-only report, when you click on a match from the internet, you will no longer have the option of “show in web page”; instead, you will have the option to click on the link and view the web page outside of the text viewer.

Hi Kathleen,

I found a discrepancy in the Similarity Index between online and downloaded pdf.

Is it what you said in this post?

Will it get back to normal after 4th May?

Thanks a lot

Hi Jae,

Thanks for raising this - you are not alone in highlighting this recent problem. We have posted an incident to our status page Crossref Status - Similarity Check service - incorrect Similarity Score displaying in the document viewer for some subscribers

If the file being checked is in a folder which has exclusions applied, the document viewer is generating the score as if there were no exclusions. The correct score (with the exclusions in place) is being shown in the PDF and through the API.

As a workaround, subscribers can re-apply the exclusions to the document viewer.

Turnitin are aware of the issue and are working to solve the problem. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting the problem.
